Philosophy

In Photography and Filmmaking, there is a gap between “what is” and “what should be.” Our work stays true to “what is.”

We believe Wedding Photographers or Filmmakers are participants, not witnesses.

The best photographers are emotionally intelligent and intuitive, and know when to command and when to stay silent. This balance is incredibly important because people (your guests and families) have high expectations for their appearance, and don’t want to chase the image. They want the image to come to them. By having a certain empathy, a world-class photographer and filmmaker can do things, move things, and capture things that ‘beat expectations to the punch’ and exceed everyone’s particular vision of themselves – whether they know it (are posing) or not (true candid).

Every expression has a ‘peak’ which occurs in a fraction of a second. For example, if a subject is surprised by something, the ‘peak moment of surprise’ that shows on their face is sharply momentary and not reproducible. It’s a candid photographer or filmmaker’s job to ‘see it coming’ (projection) or ‘make it happen’ (composition) – two things that have the same result: deeply human captures. In this sense: intuition, timing, projection and psychic intent are untaught skills that every member of our team is gifted with.
